‘Nav vidhan’ is a movement initiated by Keshab Chandra Sen of Bengal. He was an Indian philosopher and a social reformer who contributed to the Indian nationalism by promoting social reform, education, and women rights. Inspired by his social reforms and the Biblical teachings of Jesus Fr. Francis Ozhakal a catholic Religious priest belongs to the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate began the mission focusing on the marginalized, neglected and the illiterate folk of the backward regions of Jasthan- Vinchiya villages basing himself at Gondal, the capital of old Gondal State in the year 1990. Later the very organization was named after ‘Nav Vidhan’ meaning ‘New Dispensation or Order’. The name of the school was named after this, ‘Nav Vidhan School’.

Nav Vidhan from its inception while doing social welfare programs like health care of women and children, empowerment of women, adult education, mobile clinic, lively hood programs etc., found literacy of children the most important for the uplift of the society. In 1993 he opened this campus with three simple rooms in view of starting educational activities. In 1996 he put the foundation for his dream by opening a boarding with 20 boys. FCC sisters joined to assist him to take care of the girls and look after the health and women empowerment programs initiated. In 2000-01 a Gujarati medium residential school from class 5 was started with 37 students. Fr. Kuriakose Palakat CMI was the first Principal. Later well-structured school building and boarding houses both for boys and girls were built.
